The 2027 Coachmen Northern Spirit 18RBB is one of our favorite compact couples trailers for buyers who want to stay lightweight and easy to tow without sacrificing a proper walk-around bed or a huge full bathroom.

What really stands out to us about the 18RBB is the combination of its large rear bathroom, dedicated front bed, higher-end laminated construction with Azdel, and incredibly light 3,003-lb. unloaded weight.

At only 20' 10" long and 7 feet wide, it's a very manageable trailer, but once you're inside it doesn't feel like Coachmen has simply shrunk a traditional RV. Huge Rear Bathroom

The rear bathroom is easily one of our favorite parts of the 18RBB.

Rather than squeezing a small bathroom into the corner of the trailer, Coachmen dedicates the entire rear portion of the floorplan to the bathroom.

For couples who want a smaller, lightweight trailer but don't want to feel cramped every time they use the bathroom, this layout makes a huge difference.

It's one of those features that makes the 18RBB feel much more comfortable than you'd expect from a trailer that's less than 21 feet long.

Dedicated Front Bedroom

At the opposite end of the trailer, you get a dedicated front sleeping area.

We really like having a permanent walk-around bed in a trailer this size because you're not constantly converting your primary seating area into your bed every night and putting it away again every morning.

It gives the 18RBB more of a traditional travel-trailer feel while maintaining the compact dimensions and lightweight design that make this floorplan so attractive.

Higher-End Azdel Construction

Construction is another major reason why we like the Northern Spirit lineup.

The 18RBB features laminated construction utilizing Azdel composite material, giving you a more premium wall construction than the traditional wood-backed construction commonly found in entry-level lightweight trailers.

This allows Coachmen to deliver a trailer that feels more substantial while still keeping the unloaded weight incredibly low.

For us, that's a big selling point. You're not simply buying a lightweight floorplan — you're getting higher-end construction in a lightweight package.

The weight of the 18RBB is particularly impressive considering what you're getting inside.

At approximately 3,003 lbs. unloaded, it's an extremely lightweight travel trailer.

The 4,400-lb. GVWR also gives you an impressive 1,397 lbs. of cargo carrying capacity, so Coachmen hasn't achieved the low unloaded weight by leaving you with almost no room for your camping gear.

The 308-lb. hitch weight is also remarkably light for a full travel trailer of this size.

Compact 7-Foot-Wide Body

The 18RBB is only 84 inches wide, helping keep the entire trailer compact and manageable behind your tow vehicle.

Combined with its 20' 10" overall length and approximately 3,003-lb. unloaded weight, it's a great size for buyers who specifically don't want to tow, maneuver, or store a large travel trailer.

That narrower body is especially appealing to first-time trailer owners and couples downsizing from something larger.

Excellent Tank Capacities

Another specification we really like is the 50-gallon fresh-water tank.

That's an impressive amount of fresh water for a trailer weighing only around 3,000 lbs.

You also get 35 gallons of gray-water capacity and 35 gallons of black-water capacity, giving the 18RBB useful tank capacities for longer camping trips.

12-Foot Awning

Outside, the 18RBB features a 12-foot awning, giving you a good amount of covered outdoor living space relative to the trailer's compact overall dimensions.

For a trailer that's only 20' 10" long, having that additional covered campsite space helps make the entire setup feel considerably larger once you're parked.
